OEM manufacturers adhere to international standards for estimating the yield of monochrome and color inkjet cartridges. These standards are designed to evaluate the quality and yield of text and graphic images produced on inkjet printing devices. They consist of test pages and methodologies for assessing the print quality and yield of inkjet cartridges. The test results are not intended for evaluating photographic images. This quality and yield testing methodology is identical to that in the ISO/IEC 19752 standard. Our company adopted this standard for Barva cartridges in 2023 due to the widespread use of inkjet technology for office purposes and consumers’ desire to have a guaranteed print yield.

The international standard for determination of toner cartridge yield for monochrome electrophotographic print systems was developed in 2004. It has been implemented in the production of toner cartridges by well-known OEM manufacturers. To evaluate the yield, a test page containing text and a gradient-filled graphic in pdf format is printed. Printing is performed on three printers with specified print settings using nine cartridges – three cartridges per printer. These requirements allow obtaining cartridge yield data with a confidence level of at least 95%. Testing is conducted at room temperature (21-25 degrees Celsius) and relative humidity of 40-60%. The standard establishes a clear criterion for the cartridge yield – until the chip blocks its operation. To determine the acceptable print quality, the optical density of the test page is measured at the beginning, middle, and end of the cartridge yield. As the cartridges are labeled with the image of this standard, consumers can be confident in their yield and quality. Our company adopted this standard for the production of new “Patron” cartridges in 2019. Relevant changes to the testing methods were made in 2022 due to the release of an updated version of the standard.

International standard for determination of toner cartridge yield for color electrophotographic print systems. The testing methodology is identical to the ISO/IEC 19752 standard. Only the test page is in color. The quality is assessed for each color separately. Our company adopted this standard for new Patron cartridges in 2019.

This international standard defines the requirements for an environmental management system. Its goal is to reduce the impact on the environment during production. Having such a certificate means that the production and services provided take into account resource efficiency along with minimal harmful impact on the environment. Under the ISO 14001 standard, the company commits to monitor and control harmful emissions and consistently work towards reducing them. Waste generated from business activities is classified and disposed of in accordance with national legislation, including Ukraine’s Waste Management Law. The standard requires having action plans for emergency situations and accidents. ISO 14001 was implemented in our company in 2012, with annual audits and recertification every three years.

The quality management system, certified under ISO 9001, guarantees the production of quality goods and services and continuous quality improvement. Implemented ISO 9001 international standard minimizes the risk of receiving goods and services of inadequate quality. For the company, implementing this standard provides an opportunity to structure business processes, promptly receive information about non-conformities, and act promptly. ISO 9001 certificate simplifies the export of products, minimizes negotiations with suppliers and clients who support the implementation of this standard. We implemented the ISO 9001 standard in 2012 with subsequent annual audits and recertification every three years.

The international standard developed by the Standardized Test Methods Committee (STMC), an international committee for the standardization of testing methods, is designed to assess the print quality and yield of cartridges. Unlike previous standards that cover the entire company’s activities, the STMC standard specifically pertains to cartridges for laser printing technology, whether manufactured or refilled. The presence of the image of this standard on the cartridge packaging guarantees the declared yield and stable quality to the consumer. To assess print quality, the main parameters are measured. Several test pages, printed on a laser printing device at the beginning, middle, and end of the cartridge’s yield, are tested for optical print density, background presence, and unwanted effects. The obtained data are processed, and the results are compared with acceptable values. To determine the cartridge’s yield, the pages of corresponding quality are counted in a random sample of cartridges. We test new manufactured “Patron” cartridges and cartridges submitted for refilling and supplied to consumers under the “Patron Service” brand.
